What each Overview number means
The Overview brings all your brokers together. These are its numbers, from top to bottom.
What you will see
- Total value: what everything is worth today, positions plus cash. Below it, what you Contributed (what you put in minus what you took out) and your Cash.
- Total gain: total value minus what you contributed, in money and in %. Below it, Today's gain and, if you have both, how much comes from stocks and ETFs and how much from crypto. See today's gain.
- XIRR: your yearly return taking into account when you contributed. Below it, how your benchmark did. See XIRR or TWR.
- Dividends: what you received (net of withholding). Below it, the Fees you paid.
- Portfolio value: the chart of your value day by day. Choose the range (1M to All) or your own dates, and compare with another investment.
- Performance: what your portfolio is worth minus what you contributed, day by day. You can see it in money, in %, in your local currency or for one asset class only.
- Best and worst of the day, the allocation by asset class and by broker and, at the end, the realized gain (what you already sold), the unrealized gain (what you hold), the TWR and your benchmark.
Tips
- Tap two points on a chart to measure how much it changed between them. Esc removes the measurement.
- Compare with draws what your same contributions, on the same dates, would be worth today in another index, ETF, stock or crypto.
- If you split your brokers into portfolios, choose which one to see at the top.
Common problems and questions
- Why is my total gain not the same as my broker's?
- Asterholm counts everything you contributed, across all your accounts, and converts each movement to your base currency at that day's rate. Your broker usually calculates it another way.
- A contribution does not show as a gain. Is that right?
- Yes. Putting money in raises both the value and what you contributed: the gain does not change.
- The numbers are in another currency.
- Change your base currency in Settings → Profile.
