Transfers between your accounts
Moving shares or crypto between your own accounts is not a gain or a loss. You just need to tell Asterholm it is a transfer.
Step by step
- If there are unclassified transfers you will see a notice on the Overview. Click Classify or go to Transactions → Transfers.
- In the To classify tab, click Classify on the movement.
- For an outgoing one choose To another of my accounts or wallets, Payment or gift to someone else or Ignore. For an incoming one, its matching options.
- If it is between your accounts, choose which one and, if you see it, the exact movement on the other side.
- Click Save.
What you will see
- The status changes to Between your accounts: the units keep their cost and date, and the network fee counts as an expense.
- Many transfers are matched on their own (same asset and amount within a few days). If there are several possible matches, you choose.
Common problems and questions
- What happens while I do not classify it?
- An outgoing movement counts as a withdrawal and an incoming one as a contribution, at that day's market value. That way your total does not show a false gain or loss.
- I classified it wrongly.
- Click Change on the movement or Back to automatic.
- I sent it to a wallet I do not follow.
- Choose + New manual wallet with this balance or follow that wallet.
