Before you buy and the decision journal
Before you buy or sell, see how your portfolio would change. And write down why you do it, to review it later.
Step by step
- Go to Planning → Contribution plan and open the Before you buy tab.
- Click Add trade: choose buy or sell, the symbol and the amount or the units. You can add several.
- Tick Pay with my brokers' cash if you want.
- Click Simulate. Nothing is saved.
- If you like it, click Add to my plan or Log decision.
What you will see
- Before and after: weights, concentration, risk, yearly dividends, exposure by sector, country and currency, and the overlap between your ETFs.
- The asset's valuation and whether it is at your buy price.
Decision journal
- In the Decision journal tab (next to Before you buy) click New decision.
- Choose buy, sell, hold or watch, the symbols, your thesis, your reasons and, if you want, a measurable result.
- Mark your confidence and how you feel, and choose when to review it.
Later you see how it did against the index. It is judged from 30 days on. You can Export CSV.
Common problems and questions
- It says I cannot sell more than I hold.
- Check the units: the simulation uses what you hold today.
